Cost information only helps if you can trust it. These are the rules every page on fixpricer follows.
Our standards
- Every number has a source and a date. We don’t estimate figures by feel. If a figure can’t be sourced, it isn’t published.
- Ranges, not single numbers. Costs are shown as low, typical and high, split into materials, labor and extras.
- Original work. Each guide adds something you can’t get elsewhere, usually a calculator or a breakdown no one else publishes. We don’t copy other sites’ tables.
- Real people only. We never invent experts, reviews or testimonials.
- Independence. Advertisers and contractors can’t pay to change a number, a ranking or a recommendation.
How a guide is made
- Research. We study what homeowners actually ask about a project and collect material prices, wage data and published benchmarks.
- Writing. The fixpricer Editorial Team writes the guide and builds or configures its calculator.
- Fact check. Every figure is checked against its source and date before publication.
- Cross-check. We compare the calculator’s results with what real installers publish for the same job. If they don’t line up, we find out why before publishing.
- Publication. The guide goes live with the date its prices were checked and a link to our pricing method.
Updates
Material prices are re-checked every quarter. When we change a figure, we update the date on the page. Significant changes are noted at the bottom of the guide.
Corrections
If you spot an error, or your real-world quote looks very different from our range, email hello@fixpricer.com with the page and what you found. We check every report, correct confirmed errors, and note the correction on the page.
Advertising
fixpricer is supported by display advertising, not by contractors. Ads are clearly separated from editorial content, and advertisers have no influence over what we write or the numbers we publish. We don’t sell leads or share your information with contractors.
Not professional advice
Our guides are general information to help you budget and compare quotes. They are not a quote and not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a qualified, licensed contractor. Always check licensing and insurance before hiring.
